Flaming Fist Mercenary Headquarter, Baldur's Gate, Year of the Voyage, Uktar (The Rotting)
Kayla, along with Sera, Michin, and two other members of Silver Saints, went to Baldur's Gate to meet Lady Ophelia. Each has their own agenda, but the certain objectives are to clarify the status of treasures Silver Saints found at Eltur Guard, and also for the status of the stronghold itself. After clarifying those two things, some of group may have gone to pursue their own agenda, or perhaps still stay at the Flaming Fist.
As for Kayla herself, she stays at the Flaming Fist Headquarter for a little longer, since she had some other matter to ask Lady Ophelia, if the lady is not too busy at that moment.

Assuming that Michin and the other members were no longer around (especially Michin who were not permitted to enter by the guards), Ophelia welcomed Kayla to discuss anything at the main hall.

"Thank you, Lady Ophelia. First of all, I am truly sorry with your loss. I really hope I could help, but there was nothing I could do."
Kayla paused for a while, before she continues her words
"There are two things that I wish to discuss, Lady Ophelia, and I think both of them are related with Eltur Guard. I guess I will discuss the most important matter first."
Kayla paused again, while looking straight at Lady Ophelia.
"We are planning to clear the land path from Baldur's Gate to Eltur Guard, one of the reason is to maximize the use of Eltur Guard as a hub for Flaming Fist. For that reason, may I ask Flaming Fist to lend one or two battle group for helping us clearing the path? Since there are many Hobgoblins and Undeads, besides the usual threat, along the land path."

Ophelia listened to the request, and thought for a moment.
"I believe I can lend you two battle groups to clear the path towards Elturel. However normal march would take around 15 days, while clearing every nearby encampments would take one to two months of travel, since the raiders are settled on the strategic areas. Are you really sure about it?"

"Hmm..."
Kayla put her hand on her chin and think for a moment.
"How many encampments that we will encounter if we only focused on the path? Do we still need two months for traveling?"

Ophelia consulted several papers before answering.
"As most of the raiders on the path are the Hobgoblins, they have secured several strategic points. They can monitor the road, but they are not located too near from the road. They can reach multiple hamlets and villages that are not close to the road. The road itself seemed to be secured, as it was also patrolled by the Flaming Fists. We also learnt that sometimes they will only harass or provoke us into charging their camps, where they have prepared multiple ambushes there...."
Ophelia paused for a while.
".. We learnt it the hard way. But focusing on the road, you should only need around 20 days..."

Kayla went to silent for a while.
"If Temple of Torm could lend some reinforcements, will it give some effect to the time needed for clearing the path?"

"The problem is actually not about the manpower. It is about the distance. Most of the Hobgoblin encampments are located several hours away from the road, thus clearing even a fraction of them would double the travel time..."

"I see. I guess we really have to do the clearing one step at a time..."
Kayla looked down for a while, before she lifted her head again.
"Very well then, I will take the two battle groups you offered for helping us clearing the path, focused on the road. Would it be fine that way?"

Ophelia paused for a moment.
"Also If I may request, I would like to station these two battle groups at Eltur Guard. I will make sure to include a good forager with them, so at least they will not burden you along the way."

Kayla paused again for a while.
"Although, pardon me for asking this, but I am sure they will still have an obligation to Flaming Fist while they were stationed at Eltur Guard, are they not? May I know what would it be? If you did not mind"

"Of course I do not mind. I only think that stationing two battle groups near the enemy's area would give a better patrol range and would give a better coverage. Their obligations would be to fully support and operate under Silver Saints as auxiliary mercenaries until they are called by the Flaming Fists. I expect the next patrol groups to reach the Eltur Guard will be the replacements."

"And I guess that would be enough for the plan of clearing path between Baldur's Gate and Eltur Guard. Now..."
Kayla hesitated for a moment.
"There is something else I want to discuss, but it would be a rather personal matter, and it related to you late father," she paused while looking at Ophelia's eyes. "Do you mind if I continue? If it is still difficult for you to talk about the late Grand Duke, then we can talk about it in other chance."

Kayla looked deep into Ophelia's eyes.
"Very well. First, I guess I should tell you how Grand Duke Eltan perished..."
She took a deep breath before resuming her words.
"This story came from a journal we found at Eltur Guard. I actually unable to read the journal, as it was written in Draconic. It was Ms. Incendie and Mr. Roadrick who was able to read it. According to them, Elturiel was attacked by Hobgoblins, and Grand Duke and his men were cornered at Eltur Guard...or perhaps it was still an unnamed outpost back then."
Kayla paused while still looking at Ophelia's eyes.
"According to the journal, Grand Duke had not much choice back then. Thus, he opted to take the last resort, which was a some kind of ritual that transformed Grand Duke, and perhaps the remaining Flaming Fist, to Undeads."
She paused again, this time while checking how the young lady's reaction so far.
"However, the ritual was failed, as it made both the Grand Duke, and a female Elf who also bear the emblem of Flaming Fist, became a wraith and a banshee, respectively. We met and fought them inside the throne room. We also encountered several lesser specters and poltergeists inside the outpost. Nevertheless, I believe we already freed all of them from their torment, and put them into their eternal rest."
Kayla paused for a little longer this time, to see whether Lady Ophelia is still able to continue or not.
